What is being built
Everything the course will include
The training follows the BACB requirements for the 40 hour RBT course, completed in no fewer than 5 days and no more than 180 days.
This training program is designed to meet the 2026 training eligibility requirement for RBT certification. This training is offered independent of the BACB.
Quizzes and a final mock exam
Short quizzes check your understanding as you go, and a full mock exam at the end tells you honestly whether you are ready for the board exam or need a review first.
Certificate sent to your email
When you finish, your certificate of completion arrives in your inbox with the company seal and your BACB account number, plus the next steps to become a certified RBT.
Progress that waits for you

The path
How to become a Registered Behavior Technician in Florida
Six steps, set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. No degree required, and most people finish the whole thing in two to three months.
- Be at least 18 and hold a high school diploma or the equivalent That is the entry bar. No college degree is required to become a Registered Behavior Technician, which is exactly why it is one of the fastest honest routes into a clinical career.
- Pass a background check A criminal background check within the past 180 days, because you will be working with children and vulnerable adults.
- Complete 40 hours of training The training has to follow the RBT Task List published by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, and it cannot be rushed. No fewer than 5 days, no more than 180. This is the part our course covers.
- Pass the Initial Competency Assessment A qualified assessor, a BCBA or a BCaBA, watches you perform the skills in person or by video and signs off. Training teaches you the material, the assessment proves you can do it.
- Apply to the Board and pass the RBT exam You create your BACB account, submit your application with the training certificate and the competency assessment, and sit the exam at an approved testing center. Passing it is what makes you an RBT.
- Keep the credential alive An RBT works under the supervision of a BCBA, renews every year, and completes a renewal competency assessment. Denali provides that supervision to the technicians on our team.
The curriculum
What the 40 hours actually cover
The RBT Task List is public and every legitimate course follows it. These are its six areas, and they are what the board exam asks about.
Measurement
Counting behavior, timing it, recording it accurately and graphing it so the data actually means something.
Assessment
Helping with preference assessments and with the individualized assessment procedures your supervisor designs.
Skill acquisition
Running the teaching procedures, discrete trial, naturalistic teaching, chaining, prompting and fading, and generalizing what was learned into daily life.
Behavior reduction
Understanding why a behavior happens, applying the plan your supervisor wrote, and responding to crisis situations safely.
Documentation and reporting
Session notes that hold up, objective descriptions, and knowing what has to be reported and to whom.
Professional conduct and scope of practice
The ethics code, the limits of your role, confidentiality, dual relationships, and how supervision works.
Exam review
Passing the exam is a separate skill
Knowing the material and passing a timed multiple choice exam are not the same thing. Plenty of good technicians fail the first attempt because nobody showed them the shape of the questions.
So the course carries a review track alongside the training. Short quizzes after every module while the content is fresh, a full mock exam built to mirror the real format and timing, and a breakdown afterwards that tells you which task list areas you are solid on and which ones need another pass before you book your seat.

What people ask us about becoming an RBT
What does a Registered Behavior Technician do?
An RBT delivers behavior analysis services directly, under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. In practice that means running the teaching programs written for a client, collecting data on every session, and helping a child or an adult build skills that make daily life work better. The analyst designs the plan, the RBT is the one in the room making it happen.
How do I become an RBT in Florida?
Florida does not add a separate state licence for RBTs. You follow the national requirements set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board: be 18 with a high school diploma, pass a background check, complete the 40 hour training, pass the initial competency assessment with a qualified assessor, and pass the board exam. Most people move through it in two to three months.
How long does the 40 hour course take?
Forty hours of content, but the Board sets a floor and a ceiling on the calendar. You cannot finish in fewer than 5 days, no matter how fast you go, and you cannot take longer than 180 days. Studying about two hours a day puts most people at the finish line in three weeks.
Do I need a college degree?
No. A high school diploma or its equivalent is enough. That is what makes the RBT credential a genuine entry point into clinical work, and many of our own technicians started exactly there.
Will the course be available in Spanish?
Yes. We are building it in English and in Spanish, because that is how our team already works and because Miami deserves a course that does not force anyone to study in their second language.
Does finishing the course make me a certified RBT?
No, and be careful with anyone who tells you otherwise. The course gives you a certificate of completion for the 40 hour training requirement. Certification comes from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board after you also pass the competency assessment and the exam. We prepare you for all of it, but only the Board issues the credential.
Is there an exam review included?
Yes. Beyond the 40 hours there is a review track: short quizzes after every module, a full mock exam that mirrors the format of the real one, and a breakdown afterwards showing which task list areas you are solid on and which ones need another pass before you sit the exam.

Can I work at Denali once I am certified?
We hire RBTs, and we supervise them. If you are already certified you do not have to wait for the course at all, the careers page is open right now. If you certify with us later, you will already know how we work.
